Thunderbike Streamline Bob - Bolt On And Ride

First look: Custom Chrome Europe’s 2025 „Bolt On And Ride“ Bikes! For the 2025 riding season Custom Chrome Europe is “back on the road” with three new “Bolt On And Ride” bikes. All three bikes were presented at CUSTOMBIKE in December 2024: Once again, CCE partners Thunderbike, Rick’s Motorcycles and Bike Farm/Indian Melle were asked to transform the current Custom Chrome Europe parts into outstanding custombikes. This is one of the spectacular results…

„The times are a changin“, technology will advance, but one thing certainly does not change: the theme „Bolt On And Ride” also includes the word „ride“. And the Custom Chrome Europe team never left a doubt that the take the „ride“ serious! The selected accessories distributed by Custom Chrome Europe – and often also produced under CCE brand names – have been installed and tested on the “Bolt On And Ride” custombikes for many years. In order to provide CCE customers with the best possible advice and service, but also to stay „up to date“ with the latest custom trends and a constantly evolving technology. This will also be the case again in the 2025 season. “Bolt On And Ride” stands for „easy to install“ and uncomplicated customizing, the possibility to transform your own motorcycle into an individual piece of rolling motorcycle art. As quickly and inexpensive as possible – with the help of professional authorized and independent dealers who have proven their technical expertise and the diverse requirements of the various custombike styles again and again over the past decades. The custombike lifestyle has many facets – Custom Chrome Europe supports them all…

The beginning of the concept

The history of Thunderbike with the Custom Chrome Europe “Bolt On And Ride“ program dates back to the beginnings of the concept in 2009 – and it was CCE partner Thunderbike in Hamminkeln that put the first two “real” Bolt On And Ride” custombikes onto wheels: “Fat Thunder“ and “Thunder Street Bob”, the latter also a stylish “Street Bob“, back then with the „Twin Cam“ engine in its prime. The Milwaukee Eight powered Softails have changed the customizing world since the premiere for the 2018 model year and offered challenges for all parts manufacturers. The German developers in particular, including Thunderbike in Hamminkeln, reacted professionally and with lightning speed.

Street Bob in Fast Forward Style

Extremely clean look, super smooth and with lots of “Bolt-On” parts from the Thunderbike parts range distributed by CCE and other top brands from the Custom Chrome Europe catalog, there is little left of the original “Street Bob“. Which can be attributed to the forward-mounted Thunderbike “Phantom” forward controls.

In fact the “Streamline Bob” riding position is less „Café Racer“ or „Clubstyle“ than the first glimpse would suggest, but the sportive combination of design, color and technology fits this “Street Dragster” perfectly. The drivetrain setup remained close to stock configuration, especially on the inside: 95 hp and 155 Nm are plenty of power and forward thrust anyway. Performance Machine “Race Series” Black Ops Finish rocker box covers and a Fred Kodlin 2-in-1 “Next Level” exhaust system underline the distinctive „powerbike look“, while the CNC-machined Thunderbike cover fits on the stock oval air filter. Other Thunderbike parts include the cam- and clutch-covers on the already „clean“ stock primary. Transmission side- and top-covers are PM “Race Series“ too.

Compact and low

Despite the increase in wheel diameter, from 19 to 21 inches at the front and from 16 to 18 inches at the rear, the bike appears compact and low. The rear suspension has actually been lowered using a Thunderbike lowering kit, while the stock shock absorber has been retained. At the front, there are more changes and only the fork legs and triple-trees remain stock: Stylish Arlen Ness fork tubes are DLC-coated (DLC = Diamond Like Carbon) in black, which results in an extremely hard surface with a chrome-like appearance. Internal technology comes from Progressive Suspension and lowers the fork by 1-2 inches (25.4 – 50.8 mm). Including adjustable preload. The RevTech wheel set features the elegant “T-5” design and is machined in contrast cut, with the T-5 drive pulley and visually matching Thunderbike “Vegas” brake rotors. The stock Brembo brake calipers have rendered many accessory manufacturers of calipers „out of business”. Thunderbike also retains the stock Brembos and re-locates the stock caliper on a Thunderbike adapter to compensate for the larger 340 mm brake disk diameter at the front wheel.

Customizing always means to choose your own custom style

The list of custom-made sheet metal parts starts with the tight-fit 21” front fender and ends already with the rear fender: both carefully handcrafted in the Thunderbike sheet metal. workshop. The rear fender in particular is a true masterpiece of metal art and integrates turn signal, tail- and brake lights perfectly into the perfectly rounded rear edge – and the radius of the fender follows the rear wheel radius under any load, even without air suspension installed. As there are only a few options for the side covers, the stock covers were adapted by matching the paintwork. In fact, the stock „Street Bob“ tank was retained, albeit upgraded with an Arlen Ness tank cap.

The small Santee “Batwing” is a pretty cool option in the CCE parts program. A section that offers many extraordinary fairings, touring windshields and fairing accessories on over 35 catalog pages – and the „Chico Pinstriping“ paintjob integrates the ABS plastic fairing perfectly into the bike, to some extend even optically changing its look. Since all Santee fairings can be fitted to numerous Harley models and model years, the brackets for each application must be ordered separately. The same applies to the numerous windshield variants, which are available in different tints and heights to adapt the air flow to the respective rider size.

Hidden in the slipstream

The Clubstyle risers by Thunderbike are hidden in the “slipstream” of the stylish fairing: they secure the “Torque” handlebars with SP-S grips and also move the stock digital displays closer into the rider’s field of vision. That will prove very useful when accelerating at the next traffic light! The rider rests comfortably on a Thunderbike genuine leather seat, perfectly matching the tailend section and stock fuel tank. The “Streamline Bob” cannot be defined to one particular style: a lot of “Dragstyle” with a touch of “club” and some “Café Racer” ambitions cannot be denied. All that’s missing now for the first “test drive” is a “Bolt On And Ride” tour to the events of the 2025 custom bike season…
