EightySix Legacy

customized Harley-Davidson FLTRX Road Glide 117

Built for the road. Inspired by racing.

With the EightySix Legacy, we’ve teamed up to create a performance bagger for Lance David Arnold that combines touring comfort with true racing DNA. Based on a Harley-Davidson Road Glide, the result is an uncompromising custom build featuring high-quality Thunderbike parts and a striking motorsports look centered around Lance’s No. 86.

On our YouTube channel, Lance and Andreas discuss the concept behind the EightySix Legacy and the build, and go into detail about the parts used.

Thunderbike 86 Legacy – Performance Bagger with Racing DNA

When two worlds collide, something special is born: the allure of a classic Harley-Davidson bagger combined with the dynamism and technology of modern performance bikes.

We already got to see just how well these two worlds go together alongside Lance David Arnold at the Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup in Assen. Lance joined us there and was able to experience the impressive race bikes up close, both on and off the track. The uncompromising combination of a large Bagger, modern suspension technology, and true racing provided the perfect inspiration for this project.

For Lance David Arnold, known for his involvement in endurance racing and, among other things, as a participant in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans, we brought this very idea to life. Back in 2021, we created a highly personalized custom bike for him – the Thunderbike LDA 86, based on a Harley-Davidson FXDR. With the EightySix Legacy, we’re now consistently building on this shared history: a bagger that not only comfortably covers long distances but also embodies the character of a true performance bike, both visually and technically.

The base is a stock Harley-Davidson Road Glide. We deliberately chose not to use a CVO model, because our goal was to rebuild the bike from the ground up and enhance it with high-quality Thunderbike components.

The result: a performance bike that combines touring comfort, an aggressive look, and a true racing feel.

From stock bagger to performance motorcycle

The Road Glide comes straight from the factory with a distinctive front end and an impressive appearance. However, the standard 19-inch front wheel makes the proportions seem a bit understated.

Switching to a large 21-inch Thunderbike GT wheel changes the motorcycle’s entire silhouette. The large front fairing takes on a much sportier look, and the Bagger appears significantly more dynamic overall.

The high-contrast surface of the rim, with its silver Contrast-Cut milled patterns, is reflected in numerous details of the bike and ties together the wheels, engine components, and paint design into a harmonious overall look.

Of course, a performance bagger also needs the right technology.

The suspension has been upgraded with a complete Öhlins high-performance suspension system. The upside-down fork with nitrided inner tubes not only looks impressive but also delivers significantly improved handling characteristics. Thanks to full adjustability, spring preload as well as rebound and compression damping can be individually tuned. Combined with the radially mounted Brembo monoblock calipers and our enlarged 340-mm brake rotors, this creates a braking system that lives up to the bike’s sporty aspirations.

Racing aesthetics meet touring comfort

The goal was clear: not an uncompromising racer, but a bike that would perform well even on long rides.

The 9-inch-high Thunderbike riser, combined with our matching Clubstyle handlebars, provides a sporty riding position. The internal cable routing keeps the look clean and uncluttered.
The Saddlemen seat combines high comfort with a sporty look. The contoured seat shape offers optimal support even on longer rides and promotes an active riding position. An additional lumbar support can be inserted as an option.

Our mini footrests for a lighter design and a better look.

The hydraulic clutch ensures optimized operation and more precise shifting.

Our Thunderbike Mini footrests in the sporty version, which many of you may already be familiar with from our ST model series, tone down the bulky stock look and emphasize the performance-oriented style.

To complement this, a hydraulic clutch was installed to replace the standard cable-operated clutch. It optimizes the shifting mechanism and makes it significantly easier to find neutral and operate the clutch. The slave cylinder is clearly visible above the exhaust manifold.

Sound and Performance

A Jekill & Hyde TwentyOne flap exhaust system ensures the perfect look, and when combined with our air filter, it creates a harmonious package that blends great looks, a powerful Harley sound, and top performance.

The Design - Inspired by Motorsports

Ingo Kruse combines motorsport design, golden Öhlins accents, and refined carbon fiber to create a harmonious overall look.

Race Number 86: A personal number with a racing history. It combines Lance’s race number and year of birth.

Carbon Details: Deep gloss achieved through a clear coat finish.

Ingo Kruse’s paint job brings together the bike’s different worlds.
The golden accents of the Öhlins components, the Porsche green colour with black panels, silver Contrast-Cut elements, and the racing-inspired touch of the number 86 come together to form a cohesive and harmonious design concept.
The number 86 holds personal significance for Lance David Arnold: It is his race number and the year of his birth, and it also perfectly embodies the performance-oriented character of this bagger.

As with all of our projects, the unique character comes from the combination of many details.
We applied a clear coat to the original forged carbon components from Harley-Davidson, including the dashboard cover and the front fender. This gives the carbon a particularly deep look and allows it to blend even more elegantly into the overall design.

Ready for the Road

The EightySix Legacy has already clocked its first few kilometers in real-world riding conditions. At the Harley-Days in Willingen, our friend Glatten took the bike out for a ride and showed just what this performance bagger is capable of. With every turn, every kilometer, and every ride, it becomes clear what this bike was built for: riding enjoyment, passion, and pure excitement on the road.

Lance is over the moon with his new EightySix Legacy and is already looking forward not only to showing off the bike but also to riding it extensively. After all, despite all its high-quality details and obvious racing DNA, this performance bagger was built for the road.

The programme therefore includes long, sporty rides – including a trip to this year’s European Bike Week in Faak am See. That’s exactly where the EightySix Legacy comes into its own: combining striking styling, modern performance, and genuine touring comfort in a truly exceptional custom motorcycle.

A shared focus on every detail.

A result that inspires.
