Custom upgrade based on the Breakout 117

As part of its 2023 model update, Harley-Davidson equipped the Breakout with the powerful 117 cui Milwaukee-Eight engine for the first time. 103 hp and 168 Nm of torque make this model a powerful cruiser with a sporty design. The basis for our conversion was a 2024 model year Breakout in “Alpine Green,” which was completely redesigned as part of this project. The result is a consistently implemented custombike with new lines, high-quality technology, and many specially manufactured components: the Grey Hunter.

Wheels, brakes & chassis

The standard cast wheels were replaced with our three-piece Vegas wheels in gloss black – 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear. To match, we fitted our Vegas brake discs with a wave design and a diameter of 340 mm at the front. The radially mounted brake caliper sits on specially manufactured adapters. During the conversion, the fork was coated with black DLC, which not only looks great but also significantly increases the surface hardness.

The chassis was equipped with a lowering kit at the front and a Slamtail Air Ride system at the rear. This allows height-adjustable chassis tuning at the touch of a button, while also providing sporty, linear damping behavior.

We moved the brake disc to the left. This gives a clear view of the Vegas wheel.

The radially mounted brake caliper sits on specially manufactured adapters.

Front & Ergonomics

A low-slung GRP fender sits above the front wheel, complemented by our Crossfire front spoiler and headlamp cap. The grips and forward-mounted Phantom footrest systems feature our distinctive satin finish. The stripe turn signals are discreetly integrated below the levers, rounded off by our Fun Ride toppers on the instruments.

Rear conversion with pulley brake

The new rear is based on our steel rear fender, including integrated taillights. A removable seat pad has been provided for passenger use. The seat shell also comes from the Steel line and has been fitted with a saddle from Spirit Leather.

One highlight is the conversion to a pulley brake, where the brake disc is mounted on the left side between the pulley and the rim. This leaves the right-hand Vegas wheel completely visible. The rear tire has been widened from 240 mm to 260 mm.

The combination of a side license plate holder with an inside license plate further emphasizes the clean design of the rear.

Details & Ausstattungsakzente

Visual and functional details include a pop-up fuel cap, a new airbox cover in the “Grand Oval Classic” design, and the Shorty Slashcut system from Jekill & Hyde. The latter offers both a subtle sound when closed and a sporty, distinctive soundscape via electronic control.

All previously chrome-plated parts were powder-coated black as part of the conversion. The original color was replaced by a new matte gray, which gives the vehicle its name and character.
