The full program
It’s what every Special Forces man dreams of: running the full program once. To unpack everything that has been played through for years, over and over again, and everything that is ready for that one big day. It’s no different for us customizers. Here and there we install a part from our Grand Prix series, sometimes it’s just an ignition cover, sometimes it’s a fat Grand Prix wheel, bicolor, with perimeter brakes. All matching components, designed and manufactured a long time ago. Everything is prepared for installation, but rarely all at once. But one day it will come for us too, that one big day.
Celebration with Purple Power
The Purple Power has had its day. It now has the weight-optimized GP wheel, 21 inches in diameter at the rear, 9 inches wide, with perimeter brake, rotating in our single-sided swingarm kit, driven by an external GP pulley.
An Air ride on top to show off the rear even when stationary with the fender close to the ground. And the bike also comes in bicolor, not metallic shine under dark black, but for this day a metallic glow under bright gold!
A similar celebration at the front, even with 23 inch diameter and 340 mm diameter Streetmaster rotors, mounted in our GP sliding tubes. The proportions are just right. The calipers are radially bolted to the larger rotors.
Frame and fender in monobloc
And it still goes on. So where do we start? The best place to start is with the frame, which, like the entire base, was once a 117 breakout. There’s not much left of it, literally. We fitted it with our GP fender and our GP chin fairing.
And please note, the rear fender and front spoiler are not bolted on, but carefully welded together. In racing this is called a monocoque, we call it a monoblock. This saves weight because there are no brackets to bolt together.
Well, we weren’t interested in saving weight. We were interested in one day being able to show what we could do, especially since the fenders and spoiler are also fitted with hoods and grilles. To witness this effort, we once again let our Glatzzo into our workshop with his camera.
The former breakout frame is now one of ours, with welded fender and chin fairing. The aluminum fuel tank is also from our GP series. We reworked the front spoiler with additional scoops.
TiN - A complex coating
Finally, our GP-style aluminum fuel tank found a worthy home. We also made a debut with the TiN coating on the fork legs. The letters stand for “Titanium Nitride”, a rather elaborate surface coating, similar to DLC, which stands for “Diamond like Carbon”. But we didn’t want black carbon, we wanted gold. So that works with TiN.
Hyperpro Fork
And if gold wasn’t enough, these stanchions are also found in our GP fork with gold-plated sliding tubes. By the way, the inner workings of the fork are Hyperpro, which has to be mentioned because it’s not obvious at first glance.
And because it looks so good, and because we coordinated everything so carefully, the clip-on handlebars are also from the GP series. Yes, there are two clip-on handlebars, because the handlebar ends are bolted directly to the stanchions.
The left lever, the clutch lever, also controls a hydraulic system because it is more elegantly hidden than a Bowden cable. The turn signals are also hidden. Only the Rebuffini fittings and the Phantom grips with satin finish are visible.
The insert follows
It should sound a little more brutal thanks to the Kess Tech muffler. The open welds of the headers harmonize perfectly with the technology-loving GP philosophy, and thanks to the electronically controlled sound management, this will not be overheard. But always legal! A saddle by Spirit Leather and a paint job by Ingo Kruse add the finishing touches. So here we are, the big day. The pictures from our workshop show the elaborate preparations. Finally, what every man in a special forces unit dreams of is about to happen. It’s time for the Purple Power to act!
