RockSTar

customized Harley-Davidson Softail Low Rider ST

A tribute to the Low Rider ST

The RockSTar is a tribute to the Low Rider ST, a powerful bike that Harley honoured with a special paint job and we refined with the necessary flair. Smoke is a man’s ornament. It has something to do with the old values that any biker would subscribe to and that Harley still stands for. The company scored a big hit when it gave a model from its 2024 Enthusiast Collection a very special paint job. The company has always excelled with flowery names for its colours. The name of this creation is less floral and more smoky: Tobacco Fade.

The performance of the Low Rider ST is enhanced by the 340 mm diameter wave-spoke brake discs

We also have the spoked wave brake disc for the rear, then with a factory fitted diameter of 292 millimetres

The Saddlemen seat provides a secure hold even when accelerating

A note Thunderbike

It was our duty and our legacy to preserve the Tobacco Fade colour scheme, to give the specially painted Low Rider ST a hint of Thunderbike, but only a hint, like the smoke of a good tobacco pipe.

We even left the wheels in place for the sake of it, even though we pride ourselves on making high quality wheels in extravagant formats. So we stuck with 19-inch front and 16-inch rear wheels in the factory-fitted Radiate nine-spoke cast alloy. We even kept the bronze finish as it is simply part of the overall Tobacco Fade concept.

However, we have given the brakes on the sporty ST a little more dominance with our 340mm Wave Spoke discs, and of course we supply the appropriate calliper adapters for the larger diameter of these discs. Please note that we also have the same design for the rear, with a factory fitted diameter of 292mm.

We made the cockpit a little more powerful. The Low Rider ST has ink on the pen, so when you’re at the traffic lights, you can be sure you’re looking at your own bike. Hence our upper Pro Performance fork bridge in technoid bicolour. On top of that is our Clubstyle pullback riser kit and, of course, our Club handlebars. It really takes the ST by the reins, the traffic light turns green and the ST gets going. The pullback risers also have the option of attaching the round speedometer. It looks a bit more technical than the digital ones and shows the old values as well.

A Clubstyle pullback riser kit and Club handlebars add a sporty touch. A technical-looking round speedometer can also be fitted

Love technology? Take a look at our Pro Performance triple clamp and you’ll get your money’s worth

The tinted Clock factory windscreen blends in with the Tobacco Fade design. It also has a useful spoiler

Serving performance

The Saddlemen seat is also designed for performance. It offers better support. And because the grip is so secure, the footpegs can be converted to Thrashin floorboards for added comfort. The Inside license plate holds the official number plate without the need for additional screws. Most importantly, it has integrated multi-function tail lights that give the rear end a cleaner look. The sound is also clean and completely legal, thanks to the Jekill and Hyde pipes with electronically controlled sound management. Unlike the original Low Rider ST, we have gone for a two-in-one solution. The performance of the base bike deserves to be expressed visually at this important point. Let’s close with a reminder of the heritage. The Klock Werks windscreen is all about tobacco smoke. Not only is it tinted, it also has that sexy spoiler. Behind it, the airflow dissipates like tobacco smoke. Visibility becomes clearer and so do the acoustics.

Relax on the comfortable Thrashin floorboards once you are safely in the saddle

Jekill and Hyde’s two-in-one system is not just an acoustic enhancement to the RockSTar’s sporting performance

The Inside license plate with integrated multi-function tail lights keeps the rear tidy

Between tradition and customising

What you have inherited from your fathers, acquire it in order to possess it. So monologued Goethe’s Faust in his study. And while a Harley has values to uphold, its tradition also dictates that it should never be left as the factory delivered it. The owner of the RockSTar is now an owner in the Faustian sense. And once again we have managed to walk the tightrope between tradition and customizing.
