Steel Meets V-Twin

When steel meets V-twin engines, goosebumps are guaranteed. At the Harley Meeting Ruhrpott on the grounds of the Henrichshütte in Hattingen, the industrial history of the Ruhr region meets modern custom bikes, roaring engines, and a scene that knows exactly how to spend a Sunday.

Add to that hundreds of bikes – from vintage models to classic bikes, from high-end customs to modern choppers. Plus a huge crowd, familiar faces from the scene, and plenty of bikes that you just have to take a closer look at. It’s not just about the motorcycles here, but about the whole experience: riding together, meeting people, talking about bikes, and celebrating the Harley lifestyle for a whole day right in the heart of the Ruhr region.

So it was clear to us: We can’t miss this home game in 2026 either.

Crew Ride-Out

We set off at 8 a.m. Jannik, Stefan, Marvin, Frank, Andreas, Kim, Glatzzo, Lance, and two more of our friends headed off together toward Hattingen.

There was plenty of variety: Marvin was riding a completely rebuilt Breakout – a true full-custom bike with a Radical fork, a swing-out rear fender, and numerous parts from our company. Lance rode his latest Road Glide, the EightySix Legacy. Stefan rode a Fat Boy with Atlas handlebars, and Kim brought a Low Rider ST with a Miller Slip-On exhaust to the event. Jannik rode a Road Glide with our 23-inch spoked front wheel, while Frank rode the Low Rider S with a Jekyll & Hyde exhaust. Andreas led the group on a Road Glide.

Goosebumps the moment you drive onto the event ground

The closer we got to Hattingen, the more Harleys we saw on the roads. Once we arrived at the venue, we got right to work. Together, we set up the booth and positioned our bikes for the day. Everything was ready just in time for the start.

Many of you also stopped by our booth to take a closer look at our custom bikes. We brought a variety of very different bikes to Hattingen to showcase just how diverse customizing can be. Among the bikes on display were the GP-Cota, our heavily modified Breakout, the Velaris with the new 40th Anniversary wheels, and the Mugello from our GP Style series. We also showcased the Project X Nightster, the Phantom King, and our 40th Anniversary bike.

After that, there was plenty of time to walk around the grounds on our own, run into familiar faces, and chat with many of you. Some of you even stopped by our booth to check out the bikes or just chat about motorcycles. That’s exactly what makes these kinds of gatherings so special for us.

Steel, V-twins, and plenty of Ruhr Valley atmosphere. Just driving onto the grounds gives you goosebumps.

The Henrichshütte is an impressive setting to begin with. Old industrial facilities, massive steel structures, and the 55-meter-high blast furnace give the Harley Meet its very own unique character. When hundreds of bikes roll onto the grounds among the relics of the steel industry, everything just comes together perfectly.

Over 100,000 square meters of industrial space are available here for the event. Thousands of visitors came, with and without their bikes, turning the grounds into a massive gathering place for the Harley community.

Just riding through the tunnel beneath the old blast furnaces is a highlight in itself. Add to that hundreds of bikes, ranging from classic old-school bikes to choppers and lowriders, all the way to modern performance baggers. What really stands out: lots of young faces, plenty of custom-built bikes, and a great sound.

At Home in the Heart of the Ruhr Region

For Lance, the meet was almost like a home game. After all, the Duisburg native is a true Ruhr Valley kid and was riding his latest Thunderbike creation: the EightySix Legacy.

This performance bike with racing DNA is just as at home on the road as it is among the other custom bikes at the event venue.

Lance spent the day with Andreas not only having in-depth conversations and conducting interviews, but also taking a tour of the grounds. Checking out bikes, meeting people, and just seeing what the scene had put on the road.

Interviews with true Ruhr Valley veterans

In addition to the bikes, our schedule also included some interesting conversations. Andreas and Lance chatted with two true legends of the German custom scene.

Frank Sander of Independent Choppers has been in the Harley customization business for about three decades. With Independent Choppers, he has made a name for himself far beyond the borders of the Ruhr region. Custom bikes, his own parts, and a constant stream of new styles have been part of his repertoire for years.

Of course, Bernd Crosberger was also a must-have guest for our interviews. As a former co-founder of W&W Cycles in Gladbeck, he played a pivotal role in shaping the Ruhr Valley scene. As early as 1988, Bernd opened his first shop in Bottrop, becoming an early part of a scene that remains closely knit to this day. He contributed to the event by judging the bike customizations.

From Old-School to Performance Bagger

The entire spectrum of Harley culture was represented at the event. In addition to privately owned bikes, around 50 exhibitors showcased the latest Harley models, custom parts, suspension solutions, and a wide variety of accessories. The many touring bikes and Low Riders were particularly eye-catching. This trend has long since taken hold on the streets, and the Harley Meeting clearly demonstrated just how differently the scene interprets these styles.

Among the participants were Motorcycle Storehouse, Don Performance, Harley-Davidson MotoMaxx Hagen and Bochum, Harley-Davidson Pfeiffer, Jekill & Hyde, Wilbers, and Shoei.

The Bike Show, sponsored by Motorcycle Storehouse, once again demonstrated just how diverse customizing can be. Old-school, chopper, club-style, touring, and performance bagger bikes were all on display side by side.

There was a special bike on display at the Dreamgirls this time. Zora, whom many of you know from the Bike Wash, wasn’t just there as part of the show – she now owns a chopper of her own.
