Fat Boy Gray Ghost

Technical data and prices

Born a legend. Back to Raise Hell.

Some bikes make history. Others rewrite it. In 1988 and 1989, Willie G. Davidson rode early Fat Boy® prototypes into Daytona, seeking direct feedback from riders and igniting a legacy that would span generations. By 1990, the Fat Boy was born, quickly becoming one of the most legendary models in Harley-Davidson history. Now, 35 years later, the new 2025 Fat Boy® Gray Ghost charges forward, bringing that legacy full circle. Inspired by the riders who made it an icon, this tribute honors the past while the next generation keeps the fire burning.

DESIGN

The original Fat Boy® set the standard, and the all-new 2025 Fat Boy® Gray Ghost takes it further. Its legendary silver and yellow color scheme returns, now with a stunning mirror-like finish created through an advanced Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) process, plus full LED lighting for a bold, modern edge.

“ICONS” MEDALLION
The Icons medallion on the rear fender speaks to this unique collection and the incredible exclusivity of this motorcycle.

SERIALIZATION
Limited to just 1,990, each bike is individually numbered to honor the original 1990 Fat Boy®—never to be made again.

TANK MEDALLION
The original and most iconic Fat Boy® tank medallion is back with flat, straight wings in a brushed silver finish.

CHROME LOOK
The 2025 Fat Boy® Gray Ghost turns heads with a new PVD Reflection finish so striking, it looks like it was dipped in chrome.

TIMING COVER
A tribute to the past, the yellow-detailed timing cover echoes the iconic look of the original 1990 Fat Boy®.

SEAT COVER + LEATHER TANK STRAP
Bold, nostalgic, and iconically Fat Boy®, the two-piece seat cover and leather tank strap were designed to pay homage to the original styling.

NEW ALL-LED LIGHTING
Classic style meets modern visibility with a powerful 7-inch LED headlamp in a polished nacelle, plus sleek LED rear lighting for stop, tail, and turn signals.

PERFORMANCE

The Fat Boy® Gray Ghost blends classic style with modern power. The Milwaukee-Eight® 117 Custom V-Twin Engine and timeless round air cleaner give it the perfect mix of muscle and attitude.

NEW MILWAUKEE-EIGHT® 117 CUSTOM V-TWIN ENGINE
A more powerful Milwaukee-Eight® 117 V-twin paired with a classic-style round air cleaner, delivering strong torque for fast launches and effortless highway cruising.

TWO-INTO-TWO EXHAUST
Updated design pays homage to the original Fat Boy’s two-into-two chrome pipes while delivering improved high-flow performance.

RETUNED REAR SUSPENSION
Updated monoshock suspension offers a smoother ride when you want comfort and stays firm when it’s time to get aggressive.

INNOVATION

All the benefits of Rider Safety Enhancements and Ride Modes are hidden in classic cruiser form and managed with intuitive, ergonomic hand controls.

NEW RIDE MODES + ANALOG DISPLAY
The five-inch tank-mounted analog gauge nods to the original Fat Boy®, now paired with a digital display that shows key ride data, including gear position and selectable Ride Modes (Road, Rain, and Sport), so you can fine-tune your ride like never before.

NEW HAND CONTROLS
Ergonomic, intuitive hand controls give you quick access to Cruise Control and new selectable Ride Modes.

NEW PVD REFLECTION FINISH
Once reserved for details like tank medallions and exhaust shields, PVD now takes over the Fat Boy® Gray Ghost. Its fuel tank and fenders feature this high-tech, chrome-like finish for the first time on a production Harley-Davidson®, creating a head-turning mirror effect under H-D’s signature clear coat.

ADJUSTABLE BRAKE LEVER
Adjustable brake lever lets riders dial in their ride to maximize braking performance and lever feel.

Rider Safty Enhancements

Harley-Davidson’s Rider Safety Enhancements is all about giving you that extra peace of mind when things get a little unpredictable. It’s a set of smart tech that steps in during tricky situations, helping the bike handle traction while you’re accelerating, braking, or slowing down. With the Cornering Rider Safety Enhancements, the bike even adjusts for cornering, keeping things smooth and steady without you having to think twice.

Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS)
ABS is designed to prevent the wheels from locking under braking and helps the rider maintain control when braking in a straight-line, urgent situation.

Drag-Torque Slip Control System (DSCS)
DSCS is designed to reduce excessive rear-wheel slip and help prevent rear-wheel lock under powertrain-induced deceleration, which typically occurs when the rider makes an abrupt downshift gear change or quickly reduces the throttle while on wet or slippery road surfaces.

Traction Control System (TCS)
The TCS is designed to keep the rear wheel from “spinning out” when the motorcycle is accelerating in a straight line and enhances rider confidence.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
TPMS alerts the rider through the information display to low or high tire air pressure. Maintaining proper tire air pressure is important both for vehicle performance and tire life.

Cornering Enhanced Anti-lock Brake System (C-ABS)
C-ABS is a variant of ABS that takes into consideration the lean angle of a two-wheel motorcycle, or the lateral acceleration of a Trike model. The brake pressure required to limit wheel slip when cornering is typically or lower than the pressure required under straight line operation.

Cornering Enhanced Traction Control System (C-TCS)
C-TCS is designed to prevent the rear wheel from excessive spinning under acceleration when going straight or cornering.

Cornering Drag-Torque Slip Control System (C-DSCS)
On bikes equipped with C-DSCS, the system helps keep the rear wheel from slipping or locking up when you quickly downshift or let off the throttle, especially on wet or slippery roads. When turning, it can adjust based on how much a two-wheel bike is leaning or the side-to-side motion on a Trike.

Fat Boy through the years

Take a ride through 35 years of bold design and legacy shaped by riders. From its 1990 debut to its return in the 2025 Fat Boy Gray Ghost, see how it became one of the most iconic motorcycles of all time.

1990: The Fat Boy® model debuts in one color, Fine Silver Metallic, powered by a rigid-mounted Evolution® V-Twin Engine.

1991: Arnold Schwarzenegger rides a Fat Boy® motorcycle in “Terminator 2: Judgment Day.”

2000: The counterbalanced Twin Cam 88B™ engine debuts in Softail® models, including the Fat Boy®.

2005: The limited-production CVO™ Fat Boy® model, powered by a Twin Cam 103™ engine, begins its two-year run. Styling highlights include slammed rear suspension, steel pan-style seat, chrome pillion, and a new metal-grind finish accent with three color options.

2007: A year of mechanical and styling upgrades, highlighted by the new Twin-Cam 96B™ mated to a new 6-Speed Cruise Drive® transmission. A new chopped rear fender covers a beefy 200 mm rear tire, and new 17-inch front and rear aluminum disc wheels have “bullet hole” details.

2016: A new Fat Boy® S model is powered by the muscular Screamin’ Eagle® Twin Cam 110™ engine and finished in Dark Custom™ styling.

2018: The Fat Boy® model is one of eight revolutionary Softail® motorcycles based on an all-new chassis featuring monoshock rear suspension and a dual counterbalanced Milwaukee-Eight® V-Twin Engine. The styling is all new—a massive front end, a new headlight shape, and a huge 240 mm rear tire—but the bike is also quite obviously a Fat Boy®.

2025: The Fat Boy® model is one of six Cruiser motorcycles infused with new technology, elevated performance, and refreshed styling. Powered by the new Milwaukee-Eight® 117 Custom engine, the original fat-custom icon is as bold as ever.

2025 Gray Ghost: Fat Boy® Gray Ghost shares technical features with the MY25 Fat Boy, including all of the updates to the entire Cruiser line + Chrome PVD paint finish, circular air cleaner, original Fat Boy seat and tank strap lacing details, and yellow accents.
