- CUSTOMBIKE Show Bad Salzuflen (GER)
Infos about the exhibition
In 2018 more than 33,000 friends of individual motorcycles made the trip to Bad Salzuflen for the CUSTOMBIKE SHOW. With four exhibition halls, 28,000 square metres of exhibition space, 300 exhibitors and over 1,000 radically converted machines from all over the world, the event remains the world’s largest trade fair for motorcycle customising and pulse monitors for conversion trends.
One of the main attractions of the event is the European Biker Build-Off, where two custom bikes are set up on a large show stage in front of the audience: This year the teams of South-East Motorcycles from the Netherlands and Rocket Bobs Cycle Works from England delivered an exciting screwdriver duel during the three days of the fair. While the Dutch put an elegant cruiser based on a brand new Harley-Davidson Fat Boy with Milwaukeeight-V2 on the wheels, the British decided on a truly blatant hooligan monster: a self-made frame in softail style with a heavily tuned 2-litre TP-V2. The radical approach stood out, because the audience decided by a clear majority in favour of the British power mallet, whose builders were exhausted when the audience vote was announced on the main stage, but were overjoyed in their arms.
In addition to the competitions, a full show and action programme ensured that time flew by. The German premieres of new Kawasaki and Triumph models, BWM’s custom boxer, rolling mill Indian-Bobber and the world premiere of Metzeler’s new Cruisetec tyre were just the tip of the iceberg. The daring devil rides on the steep face, with which Henny Kroeze and his daughter thrilled the audience again this year, are always outstanding. The main winners of the visitors’ prize draw, who can start the new season with a Kawasaki Z 900 RS or a Harley-Davidson Sportster, were certainly also enthusiastic – both brand new, of course.
The exclusively arranged “Hall of Fame” special exhibition in a separate exhibition hall was, after all, the cream bonnet of this year’s trade fair. 24 unique machines, which were awarded in various categories at the CUSTOMBIKE SHOW over the past 14 years, showed the entire spectrum of motorcycle customizing at the highest level. From the drunken BMW official motorcycle, which was knitted around to the sinewy Cafe Racer, over minimalistic choppers and charged Streetfighters up to the spectacular Monster Cruiser with nine-cylinder aircraft radial engine practically all conceivable styles were represented with exclusive unique specimens. Here you could see fathers explaining the technology of the aircraft to their sons with shining eyes, and many a visitor who had trouble getting away from an exhibit that seemed to hit him right in the heart.
So you can already look forward to next year when the CUSTOMBIKE SHOW celebrates its 15th anniversary. Best to block the date in your calendar: 6 to 8 December 2019, Messezentrum Bad Salzuflen (credits: https://custombike-show.de).
