- Jay-Jay’s Classic
“That’s my way!”
“All my bikes are colorful and have lots of chrome. That’s just my way. After all, I’ve already seen the premiere of Easy Riders.” The cult film hit theaters in 1969, so our customer Jay-Jay has many years to talk about. Jay-Jay’s latest bike history proves that this age is by no means the end of the road. After the death of his wife, he started again, looked for new friends and found them in about 100-member Facebook group “Harley Drivers North”. He bought his four custom Harleys from Thunderbike, and this Fat Boy will be his fifth.
Sitting low, fists in the wind, lots of chrome, colorful paint. What a mega appearance! The Fat Boy is hardly recognizable and you hardly know where to look first.
Our big Spoke wheels in 18 and 21″ with the matching brake discs, the steel rearfender with the integrated lighting, the spoiler and the massive fork give the Softail a completely new character.
The harmonious overall concept is created by the wide rear end as a counterweight to the fat front end and the finely coordinated paint design. Once again, Ingo Kruse has delivered a masterpiece!
Half-finished it stands there, the new Fat Boy for Jay-Jay and he reveals already, in which direction the journey goes. As a loyal fan, the entrepreneur from the very north of Germany knows the Thunderbike YouTube channel, where we present the latest Thunderbike conversions. In line with his aforementioned prey scheme, the Modern Classic caught his eye right away. Based on another current Softail model, the Breakout, we then built a timeless classic with a modern attitude.
“These are exactly the colors I wanted, but on a Fat Boy.” We’ll be happy to fulfill that dream for him over the next few weeks! For this we will use some parts from our own production and from the Harley-Davidson P&A catalog and give the paint parts to Ingo Kruse for finishing.
We will keep you up to date here and report how Jay-Jay’s new dream bike will be created. Have a look again!

Riding Experience
Despite the single-digit temperatures, Jay-Jay didn’t want to miss the chance to take his new bike out for a little ride-out. Julian accompanied him on the 50-kilometer tour to Xantener Südsee with an original Fat Boy and we were able to capture the riding fun of the two buddies with the camera.
First steps
Half-finished it stands there, the new Fat Boy for Jay-Jay and he also reveals already, in which direction the journey goes. As a loyal fan, the Schleswig entrepreneur knows the Thunderbike YouTube channel, where we present the latest Thunderbike conversions.
We will continue with a seat test and the choice of handlebars.
Which is the right handlebar?
Halfway along the route, we invite Jay-Jay to a seattest. His conversion is still in a raw state, now you can still change a lot. He had already selected many parts in advance from our other custom bikes. And as usual, we advised him on the composition.
A handlebar, however, is definitely one of those parts where a fit test can’t hurt!
When choosing a handlebar, there are questions to be clear about. Do I perhaps want a clean front with internal cables? Do I like an ape hanger or rather a wide fly bar? How far do I want or need the pullback?
So we get a few handlebars from storage so Jay-Jay can test them on his Fat Boy.
Starting with the original handlebar. “That’s good, too. But not what I’m looking for.” Jay-Jay is immediately sure. We continue with the Hollywood Light from our own production. We often use this handlebar on the Fat Boy. It is flatter and wider than the original and fits well with the line of the Fat Boy. “That’s more what I like. That would probably fit.” Until our customer from Schleswig decides, more handlebars will follow, such as our Flip II handlebar in 40 cm and in 34 cm height.
We are happy to advise you! If you are unsure, just come by or call us. And please take a look at our handlebar special.
