2018 in Prague – the "Golden City" shines for Harley-Davidson!
The Harley-Davidson Club Prague celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2018 – and was one of the oldest Harley clubs outside the USA. With quite a high dose of enthusiasm – and great success – they staged the 115th Harley birthday at Prague’s old fairgrounds.
The area had lost a lot of buildings during the floods of the Vltava river in 2002, but had been rebuilt to a large extent. A cool supporting program – coincidentally, as in Barcelona in 2003, the “Rolling Stones” played at Prague’s old airport the week before the event – and the city’s sights attracted thousands of visitors from all over Europe to the Czech Republic.
Cheap prices for drinks and food did the rest to inspire the visitors for Prague: The parade was top-organized and brought the participants passing the most important sightseeing locations without excessively hindering city traffic. Passing Wenceslas Square, bursting with Harley motorcycles and cheering crowds, is cemented in the memories of all parade participants, as are the cool stunt shows in front of the Výstaviště Exhibition Palace in the Prague suburb of Holešovice. How much the Harley riders felt welcome in Prague they showed in the following years, in which the event was repeated at the same location in a smaller scale! Definitely worth a trip!
