Harley-Davidson – once again – had other problems than throwing big birthday parties – following the buyback from AMF in 1981, the financial situation was anything but secure – and major projects were consuming time, attention and money. However, the Harley Owners Group (HOG) was founded in 1983 – and thus cleverly laid a solid foundation for the success of future festivities and celebrations.
