1903: Founding of the Company
The first Harley-Davidson motorcycle was assembled in this wooden shed. The shed was later expanded to build more bikes, but very soon became much too small. Curiously, a version of the shed – shrunk back to “original size” – remained until the 1970s when it was accidentally demolished. In today’s Harley-Davidson Museum, an outline marker around the legendary “Number 1” displayed in the glass box marks the dimensions of the shed.
